Located in the North Zone, Santana is one of the oldest districts in São Paulo outside the historic center: the area grew around the old Sant’Ana chapel and developed into a predominantly residential neighborhood. The district is home to the Anhembi complex — Arena Anhembi, the Convention Center and the Sambódromo — and Campo de Marte Airport, as well as the Santana metro station (Line 1-Blue). Avenida Braz Leme and Rua Voluntários da Pátria are its main commercial and circulation arteries, connecting the district to downtown and the Vila Guilherme area.
