Part of the Sé subprefecture in central São Paulo, the Pacaembu district is a predominantly residential, leafy and upscale neighborhood, best known for the Paulo Machado de Carvalho Municipal Stadium — the Pacaembu stadium, currently named Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu. Inaugurated in 1940, the stadium is a landmark of São Paulo football and now hosts large-scale concerts. The district borders Perdizes, Consolação and Higienópolis and is home to Charles Miller Square.
