History
Inaugurated on April 27, 1940 as the Paulo Machado de Carvalho Municipal Stadium, the Pacaembu stadium is one of the most traditional venues in Brazilian football, having hosted historic matches and major championship finals. Listed as a historical heritage site, the complex also houses the Football Museum. Since 2024, the stadium has been named Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu under a naming rights agreement, and has established itself as a large-scale concert venue in central São Paulo.

Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu is a multipurpose stadium in a consolidated urban area, with standing floor areas and grandstands for large-scale concerts by Brazilian and international artists. As it sits in a residential neighborhood in the central region, getting there on event days requires planning: the Clínicas station, on Line 2-Green, is the main subway option, and the streets around Charles Miller Square usually have heavy traffic before and after shows.
